Maringuilla - Puebla - Mexican Dance Masks

Mask Item 361

$950.

7.5W. x 8 H. inches

Wood, linen, gypsum, glass eyes and oil paint.

2009

Observations:  Mask has been brush-painted.  All masks of this type in the state of Puebla are now routinely air-brushed which saves time.  Eye-lashes were made using hair from around the ankles of a cow.  Commercial eye-lashes are now routinely used.  This mask along with mask item 360 were especially commissioned for literature that I am preparing.  It is for this reason that I sought masks made the old way.

Provenance and detailed mask construction described upon purchase.
